I have (2) 2012 R2 DFS servers configured with multiple volumes. On one volume in particular, data is replicating, but there is a large (80GB) discrepancy in free space between the two. I've narrowed it down to the System Volume Information\DFSR\Private folder.
I see a few folders that haven't been modified in years, and then folders that have been modified recently. I'm thinking of clearing out the folders that haven't been modified in some time, however I do have concerns about causing DFS replication issues. Any ideas how these "old" staging files/folders exist, and why there is such a huge discrepancy in disk usage between the two servers?
There are 4 folders on the server with more free space, one of the folders is 0 bytes. On the server with less disk space, there are 4 folders, but all contain data. There doesn't seem to be a replication group that ties back to this "orphaned" 100GB folder.
